Network weight has gone down noticeably, and i seem to stake more often. That should mean that a big holder (or several) is not staking anymore (e.g. cold storage)? Or are there other possibilities?

Yeah, but i mean over the last few months. I recall an odd correlation between supply and weight (i.e. network weight was around the 27bil mark for quite some time) but then has slowly declined over time, or at least that’s what i seem to have perceived.
But yes, now that you mention it it’s below 15bil now. PoSV 2.0 should incentive even more active nodes so it’s not like i’m worried or anything.
