possible fundraising project feedback request

Hello all!

I have been pretty quiet around here for a long time but for those who do not know me, I have been with Reddcoin for quite some time…I sold off my Dogecoin and bought into Reddcoin when it was at 6/7 satoshi many many months ago. And I am very happy I did.

That aside, I am looking into starting a fundraiser to donate to one the local cancer charities where I live and participating in our Cancer Walk.

  • Why am I doing this now?

Well my Dad was just diagnosed with cancer that appears to be late stage, but we are still in discovery on the precise details. And my girlfriend of 12 years has just found a lump in her breast, which also we are waiting on tests and doctors and all that.

So I am more motivated to participate than I otherwise would this year.

  • What am I asking?

Essentially, I wondered if this community would be interested in helping me achieve the minimum donation to participate. I will be looking at many crypto-communities to try and reach people who are interested in donating to cancer research. I wanted to start here as this is my crypto home and you all have been nothing short of amazingly supportive of good projects.

  • Why am I explaining all this?

I really wanted to gauge the community reaction to this request and as well ask for your input on how I would best go about partnering up with a good group or some good groups of generous benevolent people.

I intend to provide as much documentation and transparency as possible so as to meet or exceed any expectations of potential donors.

  • Why am I concerned about asking for donations?

Well, that is a long story. But, I was previously attempting to start a fundraising campaign through Moo-Fund prior to the Moolah debacle, and as it turns out I am so glad that they never actually allowed me to get the project off the ground. I would have felt so bad had anyone donated to that scammer.

I was so demoralized by the process involved with Moolah that I am now much less hopeful and possibly a bit more realistic about crypto community involvement.

I am very happy to answer any questions I can, and as well receive any feedback or suggestions you all may have.

Thanks for your time

UPDATE

So things have progressed since my last post, and both my Dad and my girlfriend have been confirmed that they both have cancer. Both are about to start treatment and/or schedule surgeries this week.

I have been in the midst of household renovations for the last couple of weeks and so have been away from the computer during that time.

Thanks to those who expressed interest in the fundraiser idea, but I will just will not have time to organise and participate in the event.

I will be spending my time and energy supporting these two important people in my life during their treatment and hopefully, recovery.

I will likely provide some updates here along the way.

Update 2

Since my last update, my GF has had a lumpectomy and is recovering nicely. She should have tons more information about what is happening for her in a few weeks. Until then, rest, recuperate, and try to carry on as normal

Also, my Dad has had his targets implanted and the permanent markers applied for the radiation therapy that will start next week. He is past the age cut-off so no surgery for him, straight to radiation, oy

They are both being very positive and somehow realistic at the same time, so I am very happy about that. Such a strong mind set will surely be beneficial in their treatments.

More to come when next I have some news

Hey Kraatus, Can you tell us more about the charity and walk? How much are you trying to raise, and what do the funds go towards? Thank you for sharing this… I’m keen to know more!

bigreddmachine HI bigreddmachine, thanks for stopping by.

  • what charity is it and what can you tell us about this walk?

Here is a link to their faq, hopefully that will answer some questions.

  • how much do you need to raise?

This fund raiser walk is limited to individuals who can raise $1000 CDN. Otherwise people can make teams to meet the minimum.

I understand this can seem like a lot to raise, but I think it is definitely possible.

I am by no means expecting to raise that from one community, and I am interested to hear any input on which communities to talk to/post in, as well as the correct approach to take so as to minimize insult and maximize cooperation/interest.

Hello Kraatus

Sorry to hear about all this worrying news in your family.

A while ago a friend of mine raised money to support an MS charity, using the following website:

https://home.justgiving.com/

I remember when I saw his wall message on Facebook I think - I clicked the link and arrived at a really well displayed page of information his sister had made. It was inspiring and motivated me to donate straight away.

Maybe it would be a useful place to build your campaign, and then you could publish the link in the community forums you are thinking about.

reddibrek If I end up going through with this project - the charity will provide a personal site for me to link to, so I am hoping that will lend some credence to the request for assistance.

Thanks for the kind words and the suggestion, it is greatly appreciated

Hi Kraatus,

Hope your Dad and girlfriend are feeling well. I’d be willing to donate some RDD. Please let us know where to send the coins if you get an account set up.

GrayPhoenix hi and thank you for the well wishes!

I will make another post in the event I can meet their requirements and am allowed to go forward, in the meantime, please don’t send anything to me directly for this, I want to keep everything as official as possible

Kraatus update posted, see original post for details.

Hi Kaatus,

Sorry to hear the news, my aunt is on the same boat. Not a bright one she made several chemotherapy and other treatments. Charity is good don’t take me wrong but understanding the causes of cancer is much important. It is not genetic but is the result of years and years of bad meals and nutrition.

I have consumed some literature on the subject and the most important thing to understand is how cancer is formed. And how these cells survive in the system. These type of cells exist in every human being but the immune system has the rule to detect and kill them all.

The cancer starts spreading once our immune system is flawed, the strength and detection is bogus, normally is after 30 years old when the body starts aging. If the lymphatic system is compromised due to bad nutrition then it fails to fight these cells on their own.

Normally we take these cancer types as a fatal ones situation or lucky ones. I’m more a 80% science 20% faith guy. I tend to search for answers I found this guy a while back in kickstarter and his series are legit if you don’t want to read and read.

There are some research made in EUA also related to fighting cancer through genome virus manipulation. A new technique that is about 2-5 years to the market. You can try to submit to testing list.

My advice to your beloved ones is to evaluate their complete diet and remove sugar from it! Imperative don’t forget that almost every prepped meal today has it!

A lot of perseverance is going to be needed, man. Start by confronting the doctor with the info on those videos some of general clinic doctors don’t really know much about cancer… by asking you make them work for you.

My aunt is better but it wasn’t the nice ride for us… still isn’t but things get better and we all learn a lot.

“May the force be with you!” - I mean it!

Where I come from these would be considered fightin words, however I believe that your post was not just trolling and actually was well meant.

I will leave it at that.

I was and I’m serious! There is no easy way to pass information. I don’t know your reality. If I offended you that wasn’t the main objective.

I really want to help with information since money is personal scarce resource. I only have this to exchange.

Oliver I checked the first video. Surprise me really doctors have so little study in nutrition.
