Wallet synced, but won't open now (tried everything)

Hi, I haven’t figured out how to get access to my Reddcoins from a wallet.dat backup on Mac.

I used the bootstrap to sync Reddcoin-Qt faster (took 1.5 days) but now when I reopen the Reddcoin wallet it takes over 24 hours to open (as long as I tested for).

If I put my wallet.dat file and bootstrap file in the reddcoin folder when opening Reddcoin-Qt it becomes totally unresponsive according to Activity Monitor.

I’m running v2.0.0.0-71819f2-beta (64-bit).

How do I get access to my Reddcoins from this backup?

Thanks.

wildingp the synced blockchain is not stored in wallet.dat. it is store in bootstrap file. So if you move your back-up wallet from one machine to another machine the reddcoin-qt will have to do the thing again (including loading the transaction in bootstrap file which make your reddcoin unresponsive during the time).

Thanks!

Can I send my Reddcoins out of the wallet while it’s still syncing?

Or will it only send the coins once syncing is complete?

You can send them while it’s syncing, but personally, I wouldn’t. If the wallet crashes or corrupts during the main sync, your coins may be lost. It’s much safer waiting until the wallet is up-to-date then, before you send any coins, back up the wallet then back it up again after sending them!

If this helped, please leave me a small tip - ReJU3Xygw9NvKJCZk3vFuHTmJC3kDjyVF6 - thank you!

Thanks.

What I mean is will the coins be on standby, and only sent after the sync is complete?

No, I think they will be sent just as they would if the wallet was already synced. Which is why it’s a risky business - if you request them to be sent while the wallet is still syncing, they will be sent. But if your wallet corrupts during the sync and before you’ve backed it up, there go your coins :frowning:

Hmmm, thanks, thats strange.

So what if I receive them on an exchange and sell them for BTC before the sync is complete?

The exchange is not related to the wallet… it is a completely different wallet…

I know, I’m just trying to find out if I can safely send all my RDD to an exchange and sell before my wallet’s finished syncing?

I would wait with sending and receiving on that wallet untill all is completed just for safety… besides… looks to me like the price is at the start of a new rollercoaster ride again so no rush to sell

I just want to know if it will work or not.

Does nobody know the answer to this?

I think it would work, but regardless of whether it would, I wouldn’t risk it personally.

I’ve lost 30% in value waiting for an answer here lol

It has been answered multiple times already - yes, it would probably work, but it’s not worth the risk in case something goes wrong with the syncing. That is as much of an answer to the question you are asking that is possible to give.
