Reddcoin Weekly Development Update
Welcome again Reddheads to another weekly update of Reddcoin Development.
This last week has continued to focus on the requirements for the ReddID and services and getting that converted to code. There is a lot to cover, on what I believe will be a ground breaking method to not only tip but to allow much improved peer to peer transactions. I dont want to reveal too much of our feature set at this point in the development but what we have cooking should give you a lot of flexibility, while at the same time remain in control of your funds directly.
Some of the interesting activities this week revolve more around the community efforts where we have started to see an up-trend in support from each of you.
Apart from some additional languages being incorporated, there has been some thoughts how Azure might be beneficial and also how Raspberry PI can be used as a low cost/power device for staking.
Otherwise there continues to be forward progress as we start bringing all the elements together. This is a major release so a lot of thought needs to go into the process so that is is successful across all fronts.
New Wallet - RC1d development update
Didi has continued with his extensive testing of the blockchain download speed comparison between v1.4.1. and v2.0.0.
Indicative speeds still remain at about twice as fast using v2.0.0. The testing is not yet complete (downloading the blockchain multiple times is a lengthy process)
We have had more people interested in the language file updates for the core wallet which is wonderful. The help you provide is of benefit to all (Dutch, Russian, Hindi, Finnish). I will be doing a test build so that those doing the translation can verify their work is as expected
This week, no new bugs have been reported
The next round of activities is a little more mundane.
Essentially, reaching out to those we know are running services dependant on Reddcoin wallet, trying to identify other services who may also be using and notify them of the pending upgrade.
We will also be performing a co-ordinated upgrade of the network to simulating the the switch over to v4 blocks and create/verify a fall back plan.
Overall, great progress and thanks to all.
ReddID Updates
Not too much to report here, other than development continues to progress on ReddID. It is a matter of refining and validating the code so far, so otherwise it is coming along nicely.
Getting involved
The community awareness now seems to be growing at a steady rate which is fantastic. We are solid into 2016 now and the general trend over the last 6 months has been in a positive direction. The factors I am looking at give an overall view of the interest in Reddcoin (node count, google searches, active addresses, etc). And these have all shown an upward trend.
I think a few people may have become excited by the sudden activity on the trading exchanges this week, while I find it interesting and it bears mentioning, it was really only a small blip. However it did spark a lot of discussion in the trollboxes and brought in some new faces as people realised that are serious about progressing.
Welcome to you if you have come to check us out.
If you would like to get involved and dont know where to start, reach out and we will see where you can jump in
Translations
One of the activities that needs to be done is to review the current translations for Reddcoin V2.0. We follow the same procedure as Bitcoin, using a service by Traniflex to manage and maintain the translation files.
We have already start on the following languages
- Dutch
- Russian
- Icelandic
- Finnish
I am looking for people who would like to have a look into the following languages:
- Russian (27% completed)
- Ukrainian (43% completed)
- German (69% completed)
- Chinese (73% completed)
- Hindi (11% completed)
- Spanish (69% completed)
- Portuguese (27% completed)
- French (100% completed)

- Tagalog (0% completed) Have someone interested in doing this
Of course your welcome to contribute to any other of the languages as well.
