Reddcoin Weekly Development Update

Welcome again Reddheads to another weekly update of Reddcoin Development.

This last week has been quite a productive and busy one.

• There have been a few more updates to the new wallet
• Translations have been coming a long quite well with more people contributing
• I sent a far bit of time working on wallet recovery tools after a fat wallet got hosed
• Investigating a bit of a surge in super micro transactions in the last weeks
• Looking at some of the trading volumes on different exchanges in the last week

New v2.0 Wallet progress

This last week I have been getting some amazing feedback on the operation of the new wallet.

While I think it is close, there is always the fine tuning so that the average user has a good experience.
Some of the things that have been ticked off the list include:

• converting some of the remaining RPC and console messages to be Reddcoin specific
• Pause Staking while the blockchain is syncing
• redirect some remaining printf debug messages from console to debug.log

I have also performed a pull of the recent translations into a separate git branch for testing, and this was successful.

Before final release, a couple of things still need to tested in regards to block versions as this wallet will bring the block version up to v4 (DER signatures). So we need to make sure everything is operating 100%

Testnet is running with a mixture of wallet versions that will be tested against

Translations

There has been some great input to the translation this last week. Thank you to all those who are contributing their time and effort.

Dutch was just completed to 100%, thank to elcryptotrader

Wallet Recovery

There are not too many free services to recover wallets when they become inaccessible (and it happens)

I have used over time a utility called pywallet that does a reasonable job.

My latest testing with it was to recover a wallet with about 200,000 addresses and about 4Billion testnet coins

Using the tool I was able to extract most of those private keys

Importing those keys back into a wallet has been a little more troublesome. Normally, you would take an empty wallet and just run the import routine, but alas, it does not take them all (more troubleshooting to follow)

The way around this has been to use reddcoin-cli importprivkey (coming in v2.0, but available as a RPC call in v1.4.1) with a batch script. The script reads the privkeys from a file, and sends the importprivkey command to the wallet.

With 200K files, it is a little slow, but seems effective as a last resort option.

At the completion of the import, all that is left to do is restart the wallet with -rescan to bring in all the historic transactions.

Suffice to say, PLEASE make sure you keep good backups of you wallet.dat file. With that it is a relative painless operation to get going again. If your wallet does become corrupt, there is no guarantee to get the contents of your wallet back.

Chinese Exchanges

Since Gobiw introduced Reddcoin on the 30 April, I have checked in from time to time to see the progress of this exchange.

A quick comparison of the trading volume across Poloniex, Bittrex and Gobiw this last week.

What is interesting is Gobiw had nearly 2 times the volume of trade this week compared to Poloniex and Bittrex combined.

It is early days in this market and Gobiw is leading the way, in the coming months I am look forward to a stronger Chinese interest.

Tagalog is edging into the teens, checking with my good wife as we go, and tidying up some of the existing. It an easier task that it looks at first sight because there is quite a lot of repetition. But I urge other translators to pay careful attention to the string annotations, including markup (e.g. … ), printf style formatting directives (prefixed by %) and keyboard accelerator codes (e.g. O&ptions will display with an underscore under the p [after Alt is pressed] to indicate that the menu option / dialog control can be invoked by the keyboard accelerator Alt-p, with p chosen rather than o because Alt-o is already taken for an adjacent menu option / dialog control having concurrent run-time focus [i.e. you can have clashes across different menus / dialogs because they don’t both have focus at the same time]). The latter point is quite challenging because not knowing the complete context of where that specific string resource is used (possibly multiple uses) it is difficult to avoid the possibility of multiple translated strings resulting in accelerator code clashes.

That’s why, regarding your “&” point, I would like to test the french translation. Because I believe there is the possibility that I have misplaced the"&" as I did not know what the code will be looking at as a combinaison key.

An also their alphabet is very difficult. There is not any Bitcoin ATM.

There are 260 million people live in Indonesia. GDP is 2 times higher according to the India. There are 3 Bitcoin ATMs. They use Latin alphabet.

Serkan34 Спасибо за труд. Официально в Индии запрещена криптовалюта, но ведь в мире и наркотики везде официально запрещены, однако это не решило проблем с наркотрафиками и продажей их. Так же и с Индией. Если из полутора миллиарда жителей только у 10 процентов есть возможность выхода в интернет, то это уже 2 Германии по численности, и из этих людей только 1 процент из них станет поклонником Редкоина, то это уже больше миллиона человек. Это просто арифметика и мои доводы. Насчёт бедности Индии, это миф. Индия очень богатая страна и находится на подъеме экономики. Может найдётся человек, кто разбирается в Хинди и сделает перевод. И не увидел японского языка в списке или в Японии не любят криптовалюты?

Смотрю на сайте https://bitinfocharts.com/ разную статистику по нескольким криптовалютам и замечаю, что криптовалюту используют для накопления. В топ 100 самых больших накоплений очень редкие движения больших сумм, в основном сдают на подъемах большие количества и через небольшие промежутки времени опять покупают много монет. Думаю, что социальной монетой Редкоин не станет, скорее будет использована, как накопление с возможностью роста стоимости и обогащения. Редкоин прямой конкурент Догикоину, который начал свое шествие как подарок за лайк. Скажите, люди добрые, грядет уполовинивание Биткоина, а будет ли такое у Редкоина и чем грозит монетам уполовинивание в плане стоимости монет?

В итоге, обе эти валюты социальными не являются и используют их как обычно, для накопления и обогащения. Ничего плохого в этом нет, но статистика суровая вещь. У Редкоина больше четверти адресов имеют менее 10 монет. Это очень нехорошо.

Про Биткоин
Всего адресов у Биткоина-8631714
138459 адресов владеют 92,21 процентов всех имеющихся биткоинов.
Один адрес владеет 145 232 биткоинами (63,649,701 USD) по сегодняшнему курсу.
То есть, 1,6 процента от всех адресов Биткоинов, владеет 92,21 процентов всех имеющихся биткоинов. Редкоин и Дожкоин повторяет путь Биткоина. Если взять Лайткоин, а именно по нему сделали Редкоин, то статистика по нему точно такая же, около 2 процентов адресов владеет 90 процентами всех монет. Лайткоин же стоит сейчас около четырёх долларов и был выпущен в октябре 2011 года. На момент выпуска он стоил два миллиона сатошей Биткоина, а Биткоин стоил 3 доллара США. В Биткоине сто миллионов сатошей. То есть Лайткоин стоил два процента от стоимости Биткоина, то есть он стоил шесть центов. За пять лет он подорожал очень сильно.
Кстати, после Биткоина в 2011 году были выпущены всего 4 новые валюты, в том числе и Лайткоин. Это были первые вышедшие валюты после появления Биткоина. После вышло уже много валют и самая успешная после Биткоина это Эфириум, на данный момент.
Редкоин включен в статистики и биржи многих сайтов и бирж криптовалют. Из четырёх валют, выпущенных в 2011 году на биржах и в статистике присутствует только одна-Лайткоин. Редкоин ещё очень молодая монета и через три года она достигнет уровня 1 доллара США.
